NJP to Jayanti taxi fare and Bagdogra

Jayanti is a small forest village at the edge of the Buxa Tiger Reserve in the Alipurduar district. It lies on the bank of the Jayanti River. On a clear day, from here, Bhutan can be seen. Many travellers choose it for a quiet, green break in the Dooars.

The village has no airport or railway station of its own. Most visitors arrive at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station or Bagdogra Airport and continue by road. This guide explains the Jayanti taxi fare, the distance, the routes, the extra charges and how to plan your trip.

Jayanti sits at a low height, about 208 metres above sea level, and takes its name from the river. The area is known for the river bed, forest walks, Mahakal Cave and the nearby Buxa Fort. Jayanti is roughly 26 to 30 km from Alipurduar town, depending on the source.

Most hotels and homestays are small, and the setting is quiet. Because it lies inside the reserve fringe, entry rules for vehicles apply, and we explain these below.

Distance and Travel Time

Published distances to Jayanti vary a lot, because sources measure to different points. About 185 km from NJP or Bagdogra to Rajabhatkhawa, and one gives about 190 km and 4.5 hours for Jayanti. Another operator page lists about 140 km and four hours to Buxa and Rajabhatkhawa.

Starting pointApprox. distance (published figures)Usual travel time
NJP railway stationAbout 140 to 190 km4 to 5 hours
Bagdogra AirportAbout 140 to 190 km4 to 5 hours
New Mal JunctionAbout 125 kmAbout 3 hours
AlipurduarAbout 26 to 40 km (sources differ)Ask your driver

Plan for four to five hours from NJP or Bagdogra. The exact time changes depending on traffic, road work, weather and your stops. Do not plan a tight schedule on the same day.

Routes to visit from Bagdogra to Jayanti, taxi fare known also

Route via Sevoke, Malbazar and Madarihat

One tour operator describes a road through the Sevoke Coronation Bridge, Malbazar, Chalsa, Madarihat and Hasimara. The same guide says traffic can be heavy, so it is better to start early. This route passes tea gardens and forest stretches.

Route via Nagrakata and Kalchini

Another operator lists a road through Nagrakata, Kalchini and Buxa. Your driver may choose either road based on traffic and weather on the day. Ask which one is planned, since it can change the time and the distance.

NJP to Jayanti taxi fare and cab package

There is no official fixed rate for a private cab to Jayanti. Most public pages quote fares only up to Buxa or Rajabhatkhawa, not to Jayanti. One Dooars taxi page gives ₹5,499 to ₹5,999 for Buxa and Rajabhatkhawa in its table. But ₹4,000 to ₹4,800 for the same route in its question-and-answer section.

An old traveller thread mentions a Sumo from New Alipurduar to Jayanti at about ₹1,000 to ₹1,500, plus a ₹250 car entry fee at Rajabhatkhawa. That post is several years old, so use it only to understand how the cost is built up. Today's prices will be different.

Because of this, always ask for a fresh taxi price for your date and your exact drop point. Do not rely on a single "starting from" number.

What changes bagdogra to jayanti cab package?

  • Vehicle type: hatchback, sedan, SUV or tempo traveller.
  • Drop point: Rajabhatkhawa, Jayanti village, a resort or a homestay.
  • Pickup point: NJP, Bagdogra Airport, Jalpaiguri or New Mal.
  • One-way or round trip: round trips may use a daily distance limit.
  • Travel date: winter weekends and holidays are busy.
  • Pickup time: an early-morning or late-night pickup may carry a night charge.
  • Included services: toll, parking, forest entry and waiting time may or may not be covered.

Bagdogra to Jayanti cab package fare by Vehicle Type

The table compares the main vehicle types for a one-way trip from NJP or Bagdogra Airport. It is based on the nearest published Buxa range and is not a confirmed price. The source does not name vehicle types, so the rows are rough, and the sedan row is an estimate between the others.

Vehicle typeExample carsSeatsEstimated one-way fare (INR)Suitable for
HatchbackWagonR, Swift4 (3 adults are comfortable)About ₹4,000 – ₹4,800Solo travellers, couples, light luggage
SedanDzire, Etios4About ₹4,000 – ₹5,000 (estimate)Couples and small families, more boot space
SUV / MUVErtiga, Xylo, Innova6–7About ₹5,500 – ₹6,000 or moreFamilies, groups, long drives with luggage
Tempo traveller12-seat tempo travellerAround 12Ask for a quoteLarge groups and family trips

These ranges were compiled in October 2026 from public pages of different dates, and prices can change at any time. For scale, one booking site lists a 12-seat tempo traveller from NJP to Jaldapara, a shorter Dooars route, at ₹10,500. A Jayanti quote will depend on the distance and your plan.

Hatchback or Sedan

A hatchback is usually the cheapest vehicle type, and a sedan gives a bit more boot space and a smoother ride. Both suit two to four people with light bags. The drive takes four to five hours, so many travellers prefer the sedan for comfort.

SUV or Tempo Travellers

An SUV suits five or more people or heavy luggage. For groups of eight or more, tempo travellers are the usual option. Ask about seat room, luggage space and the driver's night halt on multi-day trips.

What Does the Fare Include on taxi services?

Every operator has its own rules. Ask about each item below before you confirm.

Driver Charges

Many one-way drop fares already cover driver charges. For multi-day plans, an operator may add a daily allowance and ask about the driver's stay and food. Ask clearly what is covered.

Night Charge and 24-Hour Pickups

Trains and flights reach at all hours, so ask whether pickups are possible at any time of the 24 hours. Some operators add a night charge for very early or late pickups. Ask for the amount and the time window.

Toll Tax and Parking

Some operators include toll and parking, while others add them as per the receipt. Do not assume anything is covered. Ask for it in writing.

Forest Entry and Vehicle Charges

Because Jayanti is inside the reserve fringe, a traveller account says tourists pay an entry fee and a vehicle charge. An older forum post mentions a car entry fee at Rajabhatkhawa. These amounts change, so check the current rates on the forest department's official site before you plan.

Waiting Charges and Extra Kilometres

A short tea or meal stop is usually fine. Longer waiting may be charged by the hour. If you use the same cab for sightseeing around Jayanti, ask for the daily kilometre limit and the extra-kilometre rate.

How to avoid surprise charges for NJP to Jayanti taxi fare

Hidden charges are usually costs that nobody explained. A clear, all-inclusive quote removes most of the worry. Use these questions before you book.

  • Is this an all-inclusive fare, or only the base fare?
  • Is the drop at Rajabhatkhawa or at my stay in Jayanti?
  • Are toll, parking and forest entry included?
  • Is there a night charge for my pickup time?
  • How many minutes of waiting are free?
  • What is the extra-kilometre rate?
  • What happens if my train or flight is late?
  • What is the cancellation policy?

Ask the operator to send the final fare by WhatsApp or SMS and keep the message. It makes any later disagreement easier to settle.

Pickup Points: NJP, Bagdogra and Jalpaiguri

From NJP Railway Station

Many long-distance trains reach NJP in the early morning or at night. Share your train number so the driver can track delays. If you need a car in Siliguri first, see our Siliguri car rental page.

Travel from Bagdogra

Bagdogra Airport is the main airport for this trip. A guide from one tour seller puts the drive at four to five hours. Some guides also mention Cooch Behar and Rupsi airports, which have limited flights, so check before you rely on them.

If you plan a Bagdogra taxi, share your flight number. Airport pickups may carry a parking fee, which some operators include and some add.

Jalpaiguri Junction and Other Stations

Tour operators list several pickup points, including Jalpaiguri Road, New Mal, Hasimara and Alipurduar stations. If your train stops at Jalpaiguri Junction or one of these, ask about a Jalpaiguri taxi pickup. The distance may be a little less than from NJP, so ask for a separate quote.

Train to Alipurduar, Then a Taxi

The nearest railheads are Alipurduar Junction and New Alipurduar. From there, Jayanti is about 26 to 40 km by road, depending on the source. Guides say taxis and shared vehicles run from Alipurduar, but one operator says shared cars and buses are not available from New Mal. Check train timings and local transport before you plan.

Cab-Only Plan or Tour Package?

A tour package usually bundles hotel, meals and transfers. A cab-only plan means you hire a car and driver, and you arrange your own stay and safari. Many travellers prefer the second for flexibility.

For a multi-day cab plan, ask about the daily kilometre limit, the driver's night halt, waiting time and extra charges. Our cab packages page shows how some trips are structured. Confirm what applies to your route.

Sightseeing by Car Around Jayanti

  • Jayanti River bed: a calm spot for a walk, with views towards Bhutan on clear days.
  • Mahakal Cave: a Shiva site near Jayanti.
  • Buxa Fort: reached by a short trek from the road end, according to older blogs.
  • Rajabhatkhawa: the main gate of the reserve, with a wildlife centre.
  • Jungle safari: one guide lists morning (6 to 9 am) and afternoon (2 to 5 pm) slots, bookable online or at Rajabhatkhawa.

Safari timings and rules change, so check the forest department's website before you plan. A tour operator says the best season runs from the end of October to April. If you plan several stops in one day, ask how local sightseeing is priced.

Combining Jayanti with Darjeeling and Sikkim

Jayanti is in the Dooars, while Darjeeling Sikkim trips go to the hills. A combined plan usually means returning to Siliguri between the two parts, which takes most of a day. Plan this drive as a separate leg.

For the hills side, a Siliguri agency's guide puts Bagdogra Airport to Darjeeling at about 68 km and around 2 hours 40 minutes. One tariff page lists NJP to Darjeeling at ₹2,500 to ₹3,000 for hatchbacks and sedans and ₹3,500 to ₹4,500 for SUVs. Another agency page lists Bagdogra to Darjeeling from ₹2,500 for four passengers, ₹3,500 for a 7-seater and ₹6,700 for a 24-seat coach.

These are published Darjeeling taxi fare examples, not Jayanti prices, and they change by season. For more on the hills routes, read our guides on NJP to Darjeeling and Bagdogra Airport to Darjeeling. If you are also visiting Jaldapara on the way, see our Jaldapara taxi fare guide.

Practical Tips for a Smooth Trip

  • Start early. The drive takes four to five hours, and traffic can build up.
  • Book your stay first. Homestays in Jayanti are small and fill up in winter.
  • Share your train or flight number. The driver can plan for delays.
  • Carry original photo ID. It is often needed for safari and entry formalities.
  • Carry water and snacks. Food options on the road can be limited.
  • Keep some cash. Small shops and gate counters may not accept digital payments.
  • Check the forest department's rules. Entry and safari rules can change.

How to Book a Cab for Jayanti

Taxi bookings take only a few minutes if you have the right details ready. Follow these steps with any operator you compare, whether a local travel agency in Siliguri or an online platform.

  1. Note your pickup point, exact drop point, travel date and number of passengers.
  2. Choose the vehicle type by group size and luggage.
  3. Ask for the total taxi price and what it includes, such as driver charges, night charge, toll, parking and forest entry.
  4. Decide whether you want a one-way trip, a round trip or a multi-day cab plan.
  5. Check the cancellation rules and when payment is due.
  6. Ask which payment methods are accepted. Assume cards or UPI are accepted only when the operator confirms it.
  7. Share your train or flight number, and save the driver's contact once assigned.

To ask GoEazyCab for a quote, call or WhatsApp +91 8016916969 with your route, travel date, number of passengers and drop point. Ask for the fare breakup in writing before you confirm.
